Request for Information (RFI)
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS), which manages and operates portions of the Savannah River Site (SRS) under a Department of Energy (DOE) prime contract, solicits expressions of interest from potential suppliers with the experience and capability to maintain/repair Hurst boilers and Industrial Combustion burners. This RFI is issued to assist with finding potential suppliers interested in this solicitation.
The SRS is located approximately 15 miles south of Aiken, South Carolina and is 310 contiguous square miles.
Scope summary
Subcontractor to provide trained/qualified manpower to perform the following service. Work shall be performed in accordance with 40 CFR Part 63 Subpart JJJJJ: National Emission Standards. All electrical work shall be performed following NFPA 70E requirements.
Two 800 hp boilers. (1) Biomass boiler, (1) #2 Oil Fired boiler, Manufacturer – Hurst

Authorized Inspector (AI) services (both boilers)
- Annual ASME / state required inspection, plus ASME Section I R stamp repairs inspections. Repairs will be performed by SRNS which currently holds an R stamp certification
- Annual Eddy current testing on fire tubes (both boilers)
- Semiannually cleaning burner, flame sensor, nozzle, all other internals (to include morrison tube)(oil boiler)
- Semiannually clean fuel line strainer (oil boiler)
- Quarterly Lubricate cam linkage (oil boiler)
- Semiannual and annually atomizing air compressor PMs – change oil, change oil filter, change air filter (oil boiler)
- Annually Clean firetubes (both boilers)
- Annually perform environmental tune up on fuel oil burner, must provide annual calibration certificate for gas monitor (oil boiler)
- As needed perform general corrective maintenance i.e motors, pumps, belts, internal burner components replacement (oil boiler)
- Annual refractory repairs (biomass)
- Annual belt inspections on fuel oil pump (oil boiler)
- Annually clean / replace conductivity probes (oil boiler)
- Response time: Fourty-eight (48) hours of notification for emergency work, five (5) business days for routine work.
A supplier's response to the RFI does not guarantee they will be selected to participate in the RFP.
Suppliers responding to this RFI shall include evidence of the following:
- Submit a detailed Capability Statement
- Past performance (i.e. example of similar work)
- Personnel qualifications/certifications
