PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The purpose of this construction project is to design and construct a renovated digestive health clinic in Building 100 at the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center located in Columbia, SC. This project will address the needs of VA patients and employees with improved access to digestive health services by realigning components of digestive health and sterile processing service. The design developed will provide adequate direction for the complete construction of the digestive health clinic including the required sterile processing service.
This project will renovate the basement of Building 100 for the digestive health clinic. This will correct identified and failing requirements that do not meet environmental conditions provided in VHA Directive 116(2) dated March 23, 2016.
Further, it will:
- Create compliance with Guidance for Ventilation Requirements in Sterile Processing Service.
- Correct non-compliant HVAC required values determined for the operation within reprocessing areas to allow for increased access for a range of invasive procedures and non-invasive diagnostic exams.
- Decrease risk associated with cross infection and increase the efficiency and flexibility as well as increase patient’s privacy and comfort while minimizing patient intrusion in poorly arranged areas.
